Yeah I only heard about it because peoples profile pictures were being used in ads for those FB dating applications. Apparently some guy was on one and saw a picture of his wife who had not even joined the app. It then came out that FB could use your pics any way they wanted to.

Her photo was actually under the 'Sponsored' heading on the RHS of the FB Home page under 'Meet Single People'
