This comes from another Google dive, where I found an unused piece of Jim Lee art from the start of his run on the X-Men. This probably comes from before he and Chris Claremont decided on what the teams and costuming would fully be. Which is a shame, seeing how his Jean Grey outfit is probably the best I've ever seen for her outside the classic Phoenix outfit.
Colors for the teams come from the comics of the day, specifically taken from X-Men #1's poster-sized cover collection in 1991. Except for Xavier, whose suit colors were taken from the 1990s cartoon show. It just didn't seem right to use his red jacket in this page.

With no color sources for Jean's unused outfit, however, I went with her old Marvel Girl costume's colors (and, by proxy, her early Phoenix outfit). I really like how it came out, and really wish they'd used this thing in the comics.
