Description spoilers for Superman Rebirth and Brian Michael Bendis' Man of Steel

For those of you who don't know, a couple of years back DC had an event called Rebirth. One of the big things that happened was that the Pre-Flashpoint Superman returned along with Lois Lane and their son Jon.

For some time a mysterious cloaked, staff-bearing figure named Mr. Oz was shown watching the DC universe, especially Superman, and removing/imprisoning certain characters. Eventually it was revealed that Mr. Oz was none other than Jor-El, having been teleported off Krypton at the last second by an unknown force.

Long story short, he was mentally tortured until he was ready to destroy humanity. Superman was able to stop him by breaking his staff, which was not only controlling him but also keeping a piece of kryptonite lodged in his eye from killing him. Jor-El begged for forgiveness before being teleported away by someone heavily implied to be Dr. Manhattan.

Fast forward to summer 2018. Brian Michael Bendis takes over writing Superman. immediately he brings back Jor-El with no explanation of how he escaped, how he survived, and why is now incredibly condescending towards his son. He demands that Clark and Lois let him take Jon into space and they do... without question. As a reminder, the last time Clark saw Jor-El he was kidnapped by an unknown entity of unknown power, and the last time Lois and Jon saw him he was trying to commit genocide.

This is something I've had kicking around in my head for a while. I may or may not do a second part to this, but I just wanted to get it out there.
