Description
I met you at spring’s first passionate sigh;
Fair skin, ruby lips; auburn locks graceful
Slow-danced amid the blushing morning sky;
'Twas then I swore always to be faithful.
I loved you at summer’s first ardent roar;
Sol-touched, emerald eyes, electric kiss
We danced at midday, hearts in concert soar;
'Twas then I swore to give you naught but bliss.
I affected you at autumn’s lament;
Brooding stare, carnelian palm, side by side
We walked, hands to ourselves, backs willow-bent;
'Twas then I swore not to succumb to pride.
I last saw you at winter's lonesome moan;
'Twas then I swore I would leave you alone.
