Description Little green dragon finding a resting place by a glade... but something catches its attention. o:

Sketchy sketchy.
Aargh, had trouble with the colors of this one. Too much green in the wrong places. :s Anyway, this has been a paiting I switched to when I was bored or needed a break from other paintings. Worked quite well.

Comments and thoughts are much appreciated!

Oh btw how do you draw the scale? Add the dark lines later or start really dark and add the lighter patches of the scales? Just curious ^^

Hm, I haven't settled in just one way I paint scales heeh. but in this picture I painted the base color for the scales and drew a grid using a darker color, with the lines following the dragon's body. Then I picked up the scale color with the eyedropper and kinda painted the scales within, but also "on" the grid lines... I hope that made sense, hehe! x)

Sounds logical! I think I will try out this technique or something similar sometime to draw scales. If I draw scales I usually draw pointy scales but that's more work I think than this method, and I am actually starting to prefer the look of your scales

Thanks for the explanation

Oh I don't know, I'm not that "famous" on DA so I don't get a lot of views hehe. But thanks a lot for your comment! :3 I'm glad you like the picture! <3

that's a sad thing to be "unfamous" here, i'm on dA since 2005 and nobody still knows me, i'm just unaware how to become well-known probably that's because i changed an account for several times and people just lost me... still, i wish you become a famous person here because your skills totally deserve it, i wish i could draw like you when i was 18

Doesn't have to be a sad thing, but if a person is aiming to become a professional artist/illustrator/etc (like me ^^') then getting your art to be seen is quite important. I believe getting somewhat known here on DA takes some effort from yourself. It's not an automatic process even if the person is very good or not. Could be about putting your pictures in the right groups, and being active and nice so that people will remember you. (:

I also changed accounts several times hehe, but it wasn't until I created this account that I knew that I wanted to become a professional.

Thank you so much for your well-wishing! I wish you the best as well! :3

The dragon should be a little darker, because it's blending in with your darkest values in the receding forest. You should also introduce a cooler green for the shadows rather than just darkening up the same hue. Other than that, good job!
