I've been trying to get back into experimenting and learning to use photoshop again and i figured i'd throw some colour onto that blanka sketch i did. i'm not exactly happy with how it turned out in the end, but hey, it's an attempt. maybe i just need better line art to work with! haha but yeah, the hair needs work, some of the highlights are a bit weird. but i'm still learning!some of you may have noticed that i changed the facial expression from the original: [link] . the whole "i'm too cool for school" look just wasn't very fitting.
oh and the quote is sort of an inside joke that only peeps from the UDON crew that went to SDCC would get. HA! does blanka even talk?!?! would it even be english?!?! hahaha i don't know and it doesn't even matter now!

hey man just a quick tip...if u dont want those little circles turning up on your colouring just try going to the brush settings and take the spacing down to 0%..helps to avoid the stand out circles like on his right hand

a little bit of both actually. i took illustration in school and did a lot of life drawing as well as i have a bunch of books on the human body. of course i exaderrate a lot of my really beefy guys to the point where it just looks WAY too unrealistic. haha

I am just curious how people figure out how to draw such exagurated muscles like in comics. But I guess that is just practice.

I think that Street Fighter Alpha 3 pretty much determined that all Blanka could say was "AwwwoOOOOOOOOoooo!!!", until Dan taught him English before, which is why he can speak English at the end of SFII.
I'm only 95% sure about that theory, though.

i actually really love the colors on this one... the only thing that looks (sorta) weird is the arm and chest hair. looks more chunky and solid rather than furry and hairy (but its still awesome!~ not trying to put it down) XD

It's pretty good, Joe.
What you can start experimenting after this is to paint over top of your pencil lines. Push some lines back and bring some forward. I'm thinking that would work really well for you with something like this.
