Another character portrait. We're finishing up our current campaign, and it still could very well be a couple months till completion, but a couple of us have already put in some thought about characters for the next campaign. This one will be mine. Tiefling Wizard (don't have a name for her yet).The background I rolled for her ended up being a Gladiator. Odd for a wizard, but got me to thinking... in the oppressive mageocracy of Thay that could be quite doable, so she was a gladiator slave in Thay, having magical duels for the Red Wizard's amusement. Being a Tiefling as well she was a sub-class citizen so doubly so it was the arena life for her. Piecing together discarded scraps of scrolls and keeping an eye on the crowd she was able to learn a few spells forbidden to gladiators: mundane spells of usefulness and utility... Unseen Servant and the like... ones that helped her escape and now she is on the run trying to distance herself from the life she was forced to live among the Red Wizards of Thay.....

Basic backdrop... Faerun and the like. Of course as this will be for the next campaign that my change depending on how the DM wants to set it up.

Interesting char and background. Not really one for covert missions it seems though. (But then your current char did does not appear to be either. ^^) I've to admit I'm always a bit scepticale if my players go to far ahead with their new characters to early. Experience shows that for some reason it has the tendency to end the current campaign prematurely in rather tragic ways.
But now for the real question... where is that girdle from? Been looking for something like it for some time no.

Not sure where the covert mission reference is coming from. I haven't really made her yet, so I'm not sure how stealthy this wizard will be. My current monk can sneak quite well. Perhaps you could explain? I know what you mean about making characters early. Believe me I'm totally fine with this campaign and am looking forward to seeing where circumstances will lead my Monk. Our DM let us know, though, that we're looking at this sort of time frame, so just as something to do I worked on my next character so I'd be ready to go when the time comes... besides, now that the numbers are essentially crunched I can spend the most time deciding who she is and how she acts, which I think is the most important part of the character.
The girdle (and rest of the outfit is Kazai by Val3dArt: www.daz3d.com/kazai It's an older outfit and I used an extra texture set, MORE for Kazai by Motif, but that doesn't seem to be available any more.

I wasn't referring to their ability to stealth around, but to how well they blend into the (usually) rather humancentric population of most areas Faerûns. Now I've no idea about your version of the FR. Personally I remained pre-spell plague. I simply invested way to much time customizing parts of my FR version, like Dambrath, Thay/Thesk and parts of the dales, particularly Scardale and Deepingdale. I don't have the time (nor the interest really) in fast forwarding that all a hundred years. Nor do I want to kill most of the NPC's (including a number of the gods) I like. At any rate in my Realms (and really in most pre-spell plague FR flavors I've come across) a Half-orc with very obvious Orc features or a Tiefling with very obvious Outsider features will stick out about everywhere. Sure in a small town a group of strangers will never find it easy to blend in, but with characters like that it would be hard even in (most) large cities. So if your group sticks out, doing anything that requires being well more discreet, like say gathering information about someone becomes a lot more challenging. That's what I've been playing at.
I also don't think my players are intentionally cutting the current campaign short once they made their chars for the next campaign, but it still seems to have that influence. I've been DM'ing for almost thirty years now and I've seen it happen to often (and with vastly different groups) to consider it a coincidence.

Ah ok I see what you mean. To be honest we never talked about it and by and large it hasn't affected the campaign so I'd say we're Pre-divergence or whatever it's called. Regardless we're not going to exactly blend in. Currently our group consists of my half-orc Monk, a female half-orc Barbarian, a half-elf Warlock, a Human Rogue, a dragon born Bard, and we recently added a Drow Ranger. Not to mention a couple of our characters (and a couple of our players) aren't know for their subtleties so we get noticed once the explosions start anyway 
Yah I don't think our players are doing that either... in fact beyond talking about it I think I may be the only one who's actually done anything in regards to building a character, but even so we've got half a dozen levels to go and Tiamat to deal with so we've got plenty on our plate for now

Half a dozen level ... given you are at 13+ that would translate to at least a year in real time for us. Guess you either playing more or leveling faster. At any rate last time I checked Tiamat was still a goddess. So good luck with that, you might need it.

Normally that time would be right on track, but we're leveling faster... basically getting a level at each major plot point and/or significant achievement. The campaign has been trying to thwart a cult bent on bringing her to this plane, so we either have to stop them, or deal with her... and yes...luck has been a factor
