You can tell that Diesel is thinking "Shut the Hell up you stupid trucks or I'll slam into you HARD!!".
Geez, the trucks are really mean, aren't they? Diesel may have been arrogant but he didn't deserve to be made fun of non stop for days on end.......

Heh, something that would be good for Diesel to learn some respect: the Fat Controller, wanting Diesel to learn some things, decides to rent SD70M #4884 from the American railoroad Union Pacific: www.railpictures.net/images/d1… 4884, maybe with the nickname of something like Wyatt, has nothing but respect for steamers since he often saw UP heritage engines 844 and 3985 out on the mainlines doing PR work, and his respect earned him the honor of helping tow Bruce, Big Boy #4014, home to Cheyenne from California when Bruce was chosen to be restored to be UP's third steam heritage engine. Wyatt may be too big for switchwork, but the Fat Controller will instead have Diesel work with Wyatt pulling mainline trains during Wyatt's visit.
Yeah, not that workable, since an SD70M would be way too heavy for Sodor's rails, but it would fun to imagine Wyatt, UP 4884, managing to explain the hard facts to Diesel on what steamers can still do well, ESPECIALLY when they've been fitted with modern oil-firing equipment that drastically cleans up their exhaust, like 844 and 3985 have!

Love, love, LOVE it. All the little things like the dirty, industrial look of his surroundings right down to his cantankerous expression all work together to make a really nice visual that embodies his character perfectly.
I always liked Diesel, really. I mean, to be honest, I find him immensely entertaining. He's definitely a troublemaker by nature, and a deeply rebellious and disagreeable character. This gives him a unique feel that a lot of the other characters don't have. Also, the sleazy, 'shady guy in the alleyway' manner that he talks is endlessly entertaining, and his theme is absolutely perfect.

The face is just perfect, I like how close to his prototype he looks. The little pieces of rubbish all around and the weathering of the roofs are a nice touch, makes me thing more industry than clean and shiny. Those clouds too.. man.

i use twin-tip Promarkers. they work really well and come in loads of colour. i use them to colour pretty much all of my work
