"I'm tired to wasting time trying to get too much out of 3Delight rendering so I have decided to embrace this "toon" look."
Wise choice. And this look is not bad at all, by the way.

Well the environment and clothing aren't a problem with 3Delight,the biggest issue is the "waxwork" effect on the characters skin,so I fix this by editing the diffuse maps with photoshop,I desaturate them and use the unsharp mask to increase the visibility of the details, this makes the skin look more realistic and less pink when rendered.
Also the base gamma of 3Delight is 1,raising to 1.10 makes the overall scene lighter so you can lower the value of the lights and obtain softer lightining and shadows and less plastic look.

I had those boots from a long time because I took them from a free stuff site even if they are for the first generation of DAZ model and incompatible with the one I'm using, but they where so close to the boots of the Dchon work and your "sequel" that I always hoped to find the way to put them in use, well as you can see in the end I succeed to fit them with a trick.
Now I just need some time to improve few things and I'll make my version of this true classic.
