Do you darken your lines in photoshop or do you just draw them that dark?

I darken them in photoshop using the "curves" adjustment. (ctrl + m shortcut
then I pretty much drag the point on the left of the graph to the right & the one on the right to the left until I'm happy with how the lines look.

Do you then separate the lines from the white space and make them the top layer, or do you make them the background and color over them? This is great! Always nice to see Luigi get some love.
