Here's the music Samus is listening to. [link] She doesn't know what it's about, she just loves the sound. Since this is probably hundreds or even thousands of years in our future, I felt it would be appropriate to call this music "ancient". Loreena Mckennit is one of my favorite composers, singers and musicians EVER. She's simply divine.

Anyway... I know someone who has Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Sometimes, they wake up at night from horrifying flashbacks, their bedding drenched with more sweat than you'd think humanly possible, their teeth gritting so hard that their gums bleed, the works. So yes... this IS a far more realistic, and less simple minded take on PTSD than a certain scene from... THAT game. It's undeniable that after all that she's experienced, Samus MUST have some serious baggage weighing down on her. I just chose to deal with it in a more subtle, less intrusive or inconvenient way.

You guys may recognize the SA-X transformed, Metroid Prime bellowing in its second form before becoming Dark Samus, Draygon with its.... (well, we'll get back to that, later) Crocomire melting in a pool of lava (a horrifying image in itself, enemy or not) Phantoon with his overall WTFness, and Ridley devouring Samus' mother.

I assume Samus's animal friends (assuming she's kept any... maybe one) are a good source of comfort at times like this. Sorry I neglected to draw them here, but I will at some point.
