Description This is how I feel when I let my beard grow too long

I've been mighty busy this week; more than usual, that is. So much so, that my beard has grown wildly in the process and that coupled with the fact that I'm enjoying the DUNE audiobook whilst I work, ended up in this warm-up to test a couple of techniques I want to apply and get my hands adjusted before the journey into the important projects and commissions begins.

I really like the end result of the B&W technique I use when I'm not coloring, which involves much more rendering to add volume and the subdued coloring complimenting that texture. It reminds me of my favorite european artists but just to keep myself humble I won't name any names to compare myself to
For the design of this Fremen gentleman I mostly worked with Herbert's open description in the books of the famous stillsuits and so on. Adding a bit of my flavor, of course. The only detail I did want to get just right was the eyes; while in the book they're described as a deep, dark blue, it has always been turned into fosforescent cyan in the adaptations. Thus, I made my stand and kept to a dark shade which I think looks very cool.

So, what do you think? Should I keep bringing some of these mythical characters to life in my warm-up sessions?

I hope you had a great week and an even better weekend. I'll catch you all later!

Nic.-

I just realized something: a friend from my writer's group who knows about my obsession with 40k asked me, in all innocence, if the Space Marines are like the Imperial Sardaukar. Β I replied, with dignity, that Sardaukar are pansies compared to Space Marines.

Thank you so much, mate! It's a relief to hear that fans of the book like my take on the characters so much; I'm always very cautious to take on such archetypal imagery because I'm afraid I won't do it justice. I'm glad that's not the case

He's just perfect... Except for the fact that he's uselessly wasting water by not wearing his stillsuit properly while in the deep desert of course ( )

And, you're right... Deep dark blue eyes are way better than glowy cyan ones. Regardless what the "holywood rule of cool" suggests.
