Imagination's Journey

We are all familiar with the importance of imagination in the arts. Whether musicians or sculptors, our visions are hopefully crafted by the thoughts, feelings and visions that flow from our imagination. A year ago, I was visiting with my one of my cousins who was just entering kindergarten that year. She was animatedly telling me a story of a small tortoise who's mother was a snake. She revealed a story that went on to shark bites, vast parties and even sleep overs as we played around her parents house. Her imagination marveled me and inspired me so very much. I remember getting home that day and launching straight into writing!

This is my favorite piece yet! I was staring at the young girl's stock for some time and was just captured by the sense of happiness, joy and even creativity that seemed to glint off her. Within minutes, I was staring at one image with an ultimate goal in mind: I want to capture the beautiful and amazing thing that is a child's imagination with this portrait.

This is one of the only times I've thanked the world I'm a perfectionist. With this image, it allowed me the time, energy and creativity that brought about this beautiful end result. This image took me about a week (on and off as I am a full-time university student).
