Devoted South Park fans, namely those who remember "Cherokee Hair Tampons" (2000) and "Sexual Harassment Panda" (1999), know that Kyle is diabetic, most likely a type 1 (like me!), since he's a child and not overweight, and that Stan is asthmatic (like my girlfriend!). But other than these subtle reminders that a couple of our favorite characters aren't exempt from the grim realities surrounding the inherently-flawed human body, I'm far from the only one to state that not one mention is made of either affliction outside these two early episodes.Keep your friends and family close. They won't be around forever, and they could be gone before you could imagine.

My body is flawed, too. So I can somewhat relate. I don't have asthma or diabetes, but I have an abnormally small left ventricle.
This is called "Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome." (If someone else actually has this, I'm flipping amazed!)
The oldest living person with this heart defect is only 31. I'm 14.

Oh my goodness, Sweetheart, I hope You're feeling okay... i have a heart condition too, and I know I'm probably not gonna live too long (i was actually supposed to die when i was 2, but was barely saved)... but atleast I don't know for certain how long i'm gonna live.. knowing something like that, must be terrible, especially at such a young age.. I'm so sorry..

Love love love!!! I wish they brought up their conditions more often in the show. I find diabetes, and especially asthma, and other medical stuff interesting to watch and read. This simple pic made me very happy!

Thank you for this. My crush has diabetes and my best friend has asthma. My grandpa died from diabetes and my mom used to have asthma. Thank you for reminding us about our loved ones and how their lives are this much harder than ours by displaying it through loved cartoon characters. Right in my feels, man. Right in the feels.

Dude I have seen so many of your wonderful South Park themed creations and I just wanted to tell you that every single one of them has been done excellently. I love your pictures! They look like actual scenes from the show. I like this picture the most since it complements the strongest friendship on the show. It also has a special place in my heart because my grandfather died of diabetes before I was born.

Aw, this is really cute! I myself have asthma and a few other lung problems (and have tubes shoved up my nose more than preferable) but my best friend is a type 1 diabetic! We both love SP, and joke about how we're Cartman and Kenny, but I never realized Stan and Kyle's probs nd this made me think... Is that who we're really like in the series? Lol x)
Anyway, I really love your art! Huge inspiration to me. Keep up the great work!

I seem to know far more type 1 diabetics than type 2s, which is ironic given that only about 10% of diabetics are type 1.

That's sort of how I am with asthma. 1 in 12 people have it but I'm the only one I know, which is pretty weird! Especially considering I live in a huge city.

Many people are asthmatic and you wouldn't know it because they have a mild case. My [then-] girlfriend was asthmatic and I've never once seen her inhaler. She did walk slower, though.
