Day 2 of my little quarantober OC challenge adventure, with an OC that actually originated here on deviantart in I think, 2015?
~+~
The sly demon obsessed with card games and starving for some entertainment, Latasse, offers you a drink on the house, do you take it? You have no idea what could be in there, but his smirk definitely promises you a night you'll never forget.
~+~
As for his personality, he's a suave fucker and really enjoys messing with people, humans in particular, just for entertainment. He is the definition of chaotic neutral, it doesn't matter to him if what he's doing is morally iffy, he'll do whatever he wants to do and acts on nearly every whim. He tends to have a heavy atmosphere surrounding him, being one of the more powerful demons kinda does that to you. He can disguise his nature very well though, particularly to lure unsuspecting humans in to play cards with him playfully, only to then utterly decimate them in the most frustrating ways. In general he is not very interested in winning any of his opponent's possessions, unless he finds an item surprisingly intriguing or knows this would get an interesting reaction.
He left the Underworld serveral decennia ago to seek some thrills, the Underworld had gotten quite boring, the good old torturing souls and waging cold war with the Heavens didn't do the trick anymore. So he just up and left, installed himself in the Overworld and found his new favourite playthings in humans, their unpredictable nature fascinating him.
The only thing he needs to sustain himself is the rush of gambling and greed, for this purpose he used to run a bar in the seedy underbelly of the capital, Mora , serving wicked cocktails and running a very illegal (and slightly supernatural) gambling ring. Whenever someone stumbled in that didn't seem like they would be missed by anyone, Latasse would serve them a couple specially made drinks and lead them to a hidden back room with some gambling machines summoned straight from the Underworld that didn't let the people playing on them go home, and they'd just keep playing there until their bodies withered and died.
However, the disappearances kept stacking up and eventually he was arrested for all the people going suspiciously missing in his establishment.
After weasling his way out of prison with nary a scratch on him, he settled further in the west, building a whole ass casino at the edge of the Varha Desert and the Friyor mountains. Now this oasis serves as a lure for adventurers and rich folks wanting to take a high-class vacation in the exotic west. He learned his lesson though, and only traps people when he really needs the sustenance. There is also a door in the basement that leads to his old bar, now run by a half-monster who's indebted to him, that serves both as a quick transportation device and an emergency supply of humans should the casino ever run dry.
In the casino he likes to disguise himself as an uncannily charming human bartender and dealer in order to learn more about his clientele and their stories. He would easily fuck anything and everything that takes his fancy were it not that his uncontrollable urge to play games takes precedent. His charms are otherworldly and he often finds himself flirting with everyone he talks to. Every so often he leaves the casino to his second in command and travels the Atoll to play with humans. Once he encountered an adventurer couple (to be uploaded) and he took a liking to them. Now he visits their residence in the Friyor mountains occasionally to annoy them and terrorize their household objects.
In terms of the politics of the Heavens and the Underworld Latasse acts a lot like a powerful third party, he has a lot of fingers in the political soup and many beings from both sides owe him favours, so he easily gets away with his chaotic antics.

And there you go! He's come a long way since I first drew him years ago.
Boy oh boy am I glad I kept him after all xD
Once again, if you have any questions about this sneaky lil fella or the world he resides in, I'll be happy to answer them
Be sure to watch for future updates on this challenge and this world!
