Thanks Priyantha for your comment - I'm a big fan of your beautiful country - I have many happy memories of visiting Sri Lanka many years ago...

Beautiful image - was this taken with film? There is something about it that has a very old feeling to it.

Thanks for your comment - yes, this is an old photograph I took many years ago on Kodachrome. I scanned it ona film scanner and converted it to B&W in Photoshop. The man in the photograph is, of course, old, but I agree that the overall feel of the shot is of a time gone by - maybe that's because it is for me! This was taken on the far west coast of Ireland, about as far west as it's possible to go.

Thank you - 'serene' is such a lovely word, and really captures the way I feel about this part of the world...

its exactly what i'd imagined if im there too its so wide and open. Never been to Ireland myself, but i guess it would be something like the highlands of Scotland?

nigel-h In reply to nysh [2008-09-23 18:26:10 +0000 UTC]

This was taken on the far West coast of Ireland. There are similarities with Scotland, but the Highlands of Scotland are much wilder, much more rugged - a generally 'bigger', more feel to the country than Ireland. Both are equally beautiful in their own way...
