I'm not sure how familiar with WoW you are so I can give you the basic rundown of it lol. The idea comes from an actual boss encounter in the heroic version of the Deadmines instance (This instance is quite old, I would completely understand not knowing about this hahah). On heroic, an extra encounter happens following the normal last boss, where a woman named Vanessa VanCleef appears and drugs the party with a mind affecting drug called the Nightmare Elixer, causing them to black out. Upon coming to, they are suspended in the air over a vat of molten liquid and slowly lowered in. The player(s) free themselves by kicking steam valves off to the side that launch you safely back onto a nearby platform. Following this the party has to deal with the worst fears of Vanessa's crew as they make their way back to her, and the elixer makes said fears as good as real.

Anyway, thats where the idea comes from. Vanessa took my shaman as her booty lol

I've loved Warcraft for a long time, but didn't play WoW until Cataclysm. So, my knowledge of Vanilla is spotty. Anyways I appreciate your explanation of the context. It's always nice to know where to find the best loot.

hahah no problem, I started playing it later into its lifetime too. From what a friend told me, Deadmines was vanilla originally, and Vanessa's father was the last boss back then. Following the Cata reworks she came in to avenge him... I think. My memory of it is a bit fuzzy
