I like sunsets and sunrises because they provide such a mix of stunning, often awe inspiring colours nature is careful to tone down at other times of the day. Photography of such phenomena is popular and for an image to truly stand out from the myriad others it has to have something special.

This image is beautiful with the aforementioned collaboration of colour and intricate cloud formations but certain elements serve to take away from the overall impact of the image. Although unavoidable the presence of small details on the horizon, such as the signs, does detract from the mood created by the sky. It's fairly distracting, but happily the sky itself carries enough weight for this to be a minor flaw.

In theory I would have taken this picture with the tree slightly to the right or left so that it fell into the rule of thirds, but obviously I have no way to prove that this would be an improvement. Overall a powerful image marred slightly by the presence of needless detail and slightly off composition.
