Artemisia is one who wants to find her 'one true love.' She knows that life in the herd can be difficult and unpredictable, but seeing how close mated pairs such as the King and Queen were, and hearing stories from her father about him and her mother, she couldn't help but want something like that for herself. She knows she has a responsibility as one of the few pureblooded does, but when she decides to have a fawn, she wants to make sure that her future child has the perfectparents. However, she does seem rather unlucky in love, falling in love rather easily with the wrong sort of stags- namely, outsiders and mixed bloods.

She is quite caring, and in another life where she wasn't so interested in her magic, she might have spent more time learning about herbs and their healing- and hurting- properties. As it is, she tends to want to help those in need, be they fawnlings or some other small creature. She's especially fond of ravens, both for their personalities and for their importance to Uír, and has kept a few injured ones with her in the past to help them heal from whatever harm they had encountered. She connects to other's plights easily and will help where she can.

She does have a weakness when it comes to pretty things, and she does collect some of the things that interest her and arranges them in her little den. For the most part, the objects aren't that interesting to the outside observer, but for some reason they caught her eye. The collection mainly consists of various rocks, teeth, claws, and pelts, but she also has a slightly melted pine cone, unhatched bird eggs, feathers, and various dried flowers.

When Artemisia decides what she wants, that is what she wants. Her views don't easily change, which can work both for and against her. She doesn't usually take long to make up her mind, either. She looks at the situation, takes a few moments to think, and then sets her course. This trait also makes her quite devout to Uír- there is no question in her mind that the Earth Mother watches out for her herd.

She isn't one for leading a quiet life- she is inquisitive and so very curious, and is always on the hunt for new and exciting things. Though herbs are not her passion, she will sometimes tag along on gathering expeditions just to get away and see things.

She adores stargazing at night, especially in the bitter cold winter nights, when the sky seems so clear and deep. Though she has no clue why, she is unnerved by butterflies- not scared, but reasonably suspicious.

Appearance: Artemisia has a very lean figure. Like most Blackwoods, she doesn't have a spare pound of fat, and she trains just enough to be able to protect herself, but her interests don't lie with soldiering, so she isn't bulked up with muscle. She lets her moderately wavy hair grow out, but doesn't let it get to ridiculous lengths, unless she plans on binding it somehow, be it with accessories or a simple braid. She does like to accessorize, but she keeps it simple- usually just a simple band around her neck with pretty stones alongside teeth and claws. She has swooshy feathers, which she does her best to keep clean, but walking through forests isn't very productive towards that. Living in Blackwood, she's gained a few scars, but the only ones that really stands out is the jagged line across her right wither and another across the right side of her face.

History:
Year 754 - Newborn
Born to the soldier Kidon and the witch Risyd, but Risyd was older and her jaw was injured after an altercation with a wolf, making it difficult for her to eat. Risyd held on for her fawn, but the act of birthing was too much for the doe. Kidon was grieved by the loss of his mate, but Uír had blessed them with a daughter, and a strong one, albeit small. The proud father was determined to do right by Artemisia. An elder Blackwood doe, Ocera, was working her way close to Risyd, gaining his trust. Deprived of bearing a filly herself, Ocera had grown too old to safely carry a pregnancy to term and had miscarried the previous two years. While she had been successful this year, she had borne another colt, much to her disdain. She realized this was her best opportunity to raise a filly that could be her own in spirit, if not blood, and didn't allow for any other does to even have a chance at inserting themselves in the filly's early life, nursing and raising the filly.

Year 755 - Yearling

Anarawd defeats King Horuk. Severine becomes queen and Brismór becomes General.

Artemisia takes part in the coming-of-age ritual towards the beginning of the year. She manages to kill a wolf, though she gets hurt herself.
While returning to the herd, she meets an injured Glenmore soldier near the Redwater who had been stranded by the snows and left for dead by the patrols. She knew she should put the stag out of his misery, but something stops her, and she does her best to fix up his wounds and care for him. She uses her newfound magic on the weak stag to make him more taken with her, and she quickly decides that she's in love. She knew she couldn't bring him back to the herd- he was weakened, and he was an outsider, but still she prayed to Uír for guidance and understanding. If this wasn't meant to be, why would the Earth Mother guide her to him? If she wasn't meant to stumble upon him, why hadn't the wolves killed him yet? It had to be more than just dumb luck, or so she thought.
She returns to the herd to present her kill, and then attempts to sneak back to the stag. Kidon tails her, and upon seeing his daughter with the outsider, kills the Glenmore and makes Artemisia promise not to tell anyone else of this. She was a doe, and it was doubtful that action would be taken against her, but she could be seen as weak, and he could not have that for his precious filly. She's heartbroken, but agrees not to tell- this does drive a rift between the father and daughter, though. When she returns to the herd, she spends more time trying to help others with things, making others happy in an attempt to make her own self happy, and so no one else has to be miserable.

Artemisia first meets Blaze, the crossbred son of Falakee, and she is convinced that it is love at first sight. But, not only is he crossbred, he also fails in his first attempt to pass the coming of age ritual. Kidon does his best to set her up with strong, attractive pureblooded stags.

Artemisia covertly asks for information about Blaze, and discovers that his father, Falakee, is one of Ocera's fawns. She uses this as an excuse to visit him, in an attempt to get closer to Blaze while having a legitimate reason for being around him. Upon meeting Falakee, she makes the mistake of mentioning Ocera, and is not rewarded for the connection.

Year 761 - 7 Years Old
Deyanira becomes queen after Gràinne disappears

Year 762 - 8 Years Old
Blaze and his father travel towards Silverthorn. Artemisia attempts to follow them, both because she wants the experience of travelling into another territory, and partially because she sees it as an opportunity to try and work her charms on Blaze without her father around to make sure she doesn't make herself appear to be a weakling- even if Blaze did manage to pass his coming of age ritual, he is still a crossbred. Unfortunately for her, she took got distracted along the way and got turned around. Kidon, having heard of her harebrained idea, found her before she made her way to the border and they returned to the herd where Artemesia eagerly awaited the return of her beloved.
