"Ronan, come with me," his mother murmured, walking into the meadow. "There's someone that I would like for you to meet." The young fawn followed close beside his mother, watching her. There wasn't anyone in the meadow with them... who did she want him to see?

When they reached the middle of the field, his mother stopped and lowered her head, nudging Ronan's face towards the north. There, standing in the field, as majestic as can be, was The Great Prince. Ronan had heard the other fawns speak of him, but he had never met him. His large antlers stood proudly on top of his head and Ronan was so shocked when the Great Prince didn't topple when he started to walk towards them.

"Mother, he's coming over here," he said, his eyes never leaving the great stag.

"Of course, he has come to see you."

"Me?" The fawn looked up at her. "Why did he want to come see me?" When he turned back, he jumped. The Great Prince stopped right in front of him. He was so quiet!!

The Great Prince looked at Ronan and then at his mother, then he gave a small smile. "It's nice to see you both again," he said, his voice deep and smooth.

The doe bowed her head once and said, "And to you, Great Prince."

The Prince looked at Ronan, who couldn't stop staring at the large stag in front of him. "Is he ready to begin?" The doe nodded and the Great Prince turned his eyes back to Ronan. "Are you prepared, my son?"

Ronan's mind blanked and his eyes widened. Son? He was the son of The Great Prince?! He only stuttered and when his mother nudged him with her hoof, he stammered, "Y-yes, sir."

The Prince gave a small chuckle and said, "Good. Now, a great prince must maintain control of his emotions at all times." Ronan felt his mouth hanging open and he immediately shut it. "He must display dignity..." The Great Prince lifted his head high, "and walk with pride. Come along." With one graceful step, the Great Prince started to walk towards the forest. Ronan glanced at his mother, and when she nodded, he took a deep breath and tried to walk as majestically as the great stag that walked ahead of him. He now hoped that he would be as great as his father someday.

So this took place long before Bambi was born, when Ronan was just a fawn and he was to begin training to become the next Great Prince. Unfortunately, when he got older, his father didn't choose him to be the next Prince because he didn't think he was ready for it, which is why Ronan left home before Bambi was born and refused to contact his father.
