Sketched sometime in May or June, finished recently.
Mlahhh. So this was supposed to be a happy picture, hence the title. I don't remember if I was in a good mood at the time of drawing, or whether I was in a shitty mood and in denial about it. The latter seems more honest, but I loathe being angsty.
In any case, it was supposed to be happy. See, balloon = heart which = floaty and stuff. Like "Float On." Which leads me to think that it was indeed me trying to uplift my own morale. It might have worked? I'd have to check the sketchbook. But trees and lunas are things I love, and I believe those were added in a little later, so I think it did. Aaaand the ooze is not supposed to be blood, sillies. It's random goo. You all know I have a bit of a thing for adding random goo to pictures with hearts in them.
The orangeness of the balloon is significant, actually. Recent story idea had something about "tangerine hearts" and so instead of making the balloon (heart) red, it's orange. Bam!
So the Mare-part of this was colored when I actually was feeling lame and melancholy, and the balloon, ooze, moth, etc. were now when I am happy but sick. So I suppose I could summarize it as a mixed-mood piece. In any case I'm happy with it.
