Yay, I'm learning to make human plushies.
One of the first plushies I wanted to make is Koby, from One Piece, one of the characters who of late has become one of my favorites. I just wanted to hug him. I was quite sad when I found out he wouldn't be a major character. :<
And yes, I did use his old cabin boy design from the first three episodes. I know from the fanart on here that people are a lot fonder of Koby now that he's all grown up (I still don't understand why so much of the fandom, or so I've seen, seems to dislike him... D; ) , but I haven't quite warmed up to the new design. His old design was just so cuddly. :3
His shirt was really, really hard to make, but it turned out well. His glasses, which also took forever to do, are a bit too big, but it works well enough. He is huggable, and that's what matters.
I honestly don't remember the full name of the guy who created One Piece and Koby, but I can assure you that it wasn't me.

Personally, I like both desighns. Koby has always been, and will always be, one of my favorate characters ^-^ ...death to Koby Haters >.> (I have the same problem with Vivi haters xD)
I think the plushie turned out really great! O: Much better than anything I could ever do.

That's really really adorable *___* You did a great job!! I wanna cling to him and never let go <333 I agree, although I love all "versions" of Coby (cabin boy, Zatsuyou and Master Sergeant), the first one is the most cuddly one

Meh, most people seem to hate/be annoyed by the original, cabin boy Koby, how he was spazzy and afraid all the time. It makes me sad. I rather like cute-but-scared/sad/otherwise traumatized characters. As soon as I saw him in the first episode, I wanted to give Koby a hug. The later appearance of him, in 315.... I was glad to see him again and all, but he didn't seem to be the same person. I guess I have to just see more of the Master Sergeant Koby to get a better sense of how he changed and stuff.
Odd... O.o I realized that I made his shoes a bit inaccurately after the fact (he has a red stripe on the bottom of them in the anime). But yay, I am happy you like!
Maaaybe one day I'll make a plush of Helmeppo, though I'm still warming up to him. For the longest time, he really got to me, or at least in the first few episodes. Once he was more developed in the mini-arc with him and Koby, I was more okay with him. He's changed, which helps.
Oh MAN, if the characters were real... I'd be a happy person, huzzar. :3 There would be many hugs for Koby.

And yeah I know, people tend do hate Coby (sorry I just got used to spell his name with a C XDD) just cuz he was sorta whimpy, but that only makes him the cuter to me <3
I admit at the very first episodes I was like, neutral on him and Helmeppo, but started to like 'em after seing their mini-arc <33 And I started to feel so sorry for Coby at the very first episodes, being captive on Alvida's ship and stuff and saying that he never had friends AUGH I wanted to hug him and never let go T___T As for Helmeppo, lol I don't know how the hell I got to love him too, but I do <3 And in the end you can even feel sorry for him too, cuz he was so loyal and loved his father so much and Morgan... well, almost killed him T__T

Koby is a pretty neat character and your plushie of him is very awesome. Looks like official merchandise even!
I think the reason for the dislike of him might be a combination of him being a Marine and thus automatically the enemy of the Strawhats (though that should apply to Smoker as well and people seem to like him) and him not having any awesome powers. He's a bit like Usopp (which makes him more likeable in my book, he's a human among "monsters".)

What's strange is, most people, or so I've noticed from forums and the likes, are fine with the older, marine version of him... they didn't like him in the first few episodes, though... I've heard people saying that he scares people away from the One Piece fandom. O_o Strange.
I must watch more at some point, so I'll have a better idea of some of the later characters.
