I know right! I've never seen anything like it in any community, she has to moderate the comments so they won't be filled with horrible things, but she still has to read those and it got to her last chapter so she took a week off ao3 because of it. Some people are just terrible, I can't believe those haters.

That's even worse that I thought omg. Ao3 won't let me create an account since I need an invite first apparently (and that's coming in 2018 according to the site), but I'll leave kudos for now and will make sure to comment once I'm able. That sounds like so much stress to go through, I really hope she keeps creating her amazing content and people will leave her alone soon...

ah yes, Ao3 is like that, but petitioning to create a profile doesn't take much at all, not even a day I think. I don't know why it's like that honestly, way to turn people away from making a profile for your site. But I suppose it kind of guarantees an active audience?Β

I've only been reading and leaving kudos there because I never got my invite the last time I tried to create a profile, so it could very easily be me missing out on some key info at this point. I'll try to look for a way to sort it out, and yea, I guess it guarantees an active audience, but it's definitely not apt for dumbasses like me

oh really? I only tried it once and that was a long time ago, I could also be mistaken on the exact process but... I'm fairly certain I just petitioned and they gave it to me within a day, I didnt do anything special. Perhaps your request got lost in the piles they must get or something, good luck with it this time!Β
And when I see hate like that it makes me really sad for the poor soul that feels the need to go out of their way to bash something that they're not required to read or critique. If you don't enjoy a work, simply stop viewing it and move on with your life, the author doesn't need to feel bad about their abilities and neither do we need to pat your back while you whine. It's not hurting anyone and people are enjoying it, it's fictional characters and they're not even doing anything extreme.Β

That's exactly one of the things that bothered me the most! Like even if the people leaving hate comments only read the synopsis and tags, did they ever go and search ao3 at all before? this fic is definitely mild compared to some of the other stuff I've seen there, and the premise is not hateful at all??? I actually tried again and this time the email went through, so I could finally create my profile! I'm still finishing the first chapter since I'm a very slow reader, but I'll make sure to leave a positive comment after finishing. Her prose is so beautiful though, I'm having a blast (and I'm VERY intrigued after that beginning, I love how it started with a mystery from the very start).Β
I didn't know anons could comment too. That would be very useful for people who got their invites lost like me, but I imagine it must attract a bunch of hateful people hiding behind anonymity as well, since sadly people can be truly disturbing when protected against any consequences.Β

Honestly the only club worth joining to. And her chapters are so well written and long, of course she deserves people analyzing them. I'm not that great at providing insight but I'm sure I'll have my own theories (that will probably be proven wrong a chapter later haha)
I'm glad she chose to have a process of verification for the comments, but I imagine she still has to read the awful ones. And you're right, it's always good to let creators know that you appreciate their content, but I feel in this case it's more necessary than ever.Β

Ah I like to share my own theories as well, though I am extremely wrong most of the time and she never tells me so when I speculate! Writers, right?
And yes I also feel it's a good thing those comments arent becoming public, but honestly the damage is done since she has to read through them to determine if they're good or bad. I'd suggest getting a friend to do that but I dont really want to overstep, she can handle herself just fine. I'm just here to show my support through art and comments.
