Arena and Daggerfall are balls to the wall HARD. Battlespire and Redguard are shitty. Morrowind is archaic by today's standards. Oblivion and Skyrim are essentially the best places to start. From what I've heard, Online is okay.

The most interesting part of all of them is the lore and how the franchise has become such a fan favorite nowadays.
Some of the older modders are trying to update the older ones with a better engine for todays standards.
Mods is what makes the games shine, because "you can play any way you want to", so the replay value is the best I have ever seen.
Few other games reserve my modding and gaming time. Valves Half-life and fallout are excellent also.
