I like mobile suits featuring more conventional weapons like these cannons (basically antiaircraft cannons). Heavyarms is my favorite Gundam Wing MS for similar reasons. You don't have to suspend your disbelief quite as much (though that's still not saying much). They just seem a bit more practical.

What's crazy about a Guncannon would be the recoil; it's top-heavy and would just fall over if you fired it. I assume that's why the backpack has those vents near the shoulders on the rear, to compensate.
