Description Well, that's my first vehicle model. It's by far not a perfect replica and I've added some custom carbon parts to the bike
It was a good model to practice different techniques and maybe I'll do some additional textures one day (when I know how)

Some other views will follow soon...

Thanks very much! If I used 3DS Max I think I'd be asking for some tips But I use Maya atm. I have used Max a bit before, as I think it was easier to install the plugin to export stuff to Cryengine, mostly just simple stuff. Maya on the other hand, I've done a lot more and therefore more used of it; it's the first 3D software I was shown how to use, and I've loved it from that day

yeah, Maya is also pretty cool and especially if you're doing models for gaming, it is pretty much the standard in the gaming industry  so, have fun and enjoy!

Z-Brush is also one of my favorite 3D software  I should do more with it!

Thanks!

Nice. I haven't used that either, I have used Mudbox though and it's cool. Just played around with it, I haven't done anything that big. Would be good to learn it properly to add details to models!

I have used Mudbox only once... and switched back to Z-Brush check out the latest version 4R7... it's a little revolution

It's a shame there's no free student versions, otherwise I might've got into it. I read that Pixologic have Sculptris and offer that for free though, but it doesn't have all the same features. Do you know if it's good or worth trying? Or is it maybe more-so just like Mudbox?

to be honest, I never tried sculptris. but if its free for students, you have nothing to loose.. okay.. maybe some hours while sculpting

Great modeling! It would be great to see this model in full 3d - you could upload it to Sketchfab, and then embed it in full 3D in your journal here on DA: sketchfab-3d.deviantart.com/jo… .

hey thanks a lot I'm really happy that you like it! yeah, that's a great idea.. hope I'll have some time soon to upload the model. Might need to learn some unwrapping and texture baking in 3ds max for the materials

If I can give you some tips :
- You should add strong lights to have reflects on metallic parts
- You should find a better camera position, to be more imposing
- Your render lacks of luminosity and contrast

Nothing to say about modelling ! Good job.

yeah, you're absolutely right. I should prepare a better scene. this one was done to quickly - HDRI only  still experimenting with vray material settings and render settings..

and thanks a lot for your tips appreciate a lot!

nihost In reply to RegusMartin [2014-03-10 03:37:32 +0000 UTC]

I wanted to make a vehicle since long, and then had to decide if I do a car or a bike. I was thinking a bike would be easier, but I guess it's not

Yeah, do it! It's challenging but satisfying as well

RegusMartin In reply to nihost [2014-03-10 04:33:06 +0000 UTC]

With A bike you don't have all the smooth curves that are hard to make on a car. But you do have to model the engine and everything on a bike.

I'm hoping to get something started soon. after I finish my iron man helmet.

cool choice the helmet! hope to see it soon ^^
