For a moment, I thought this was of Game of Thrones

How did you do the sky? It looks very realistic.

Thank you, actually the sky was a real quick sequence of unplanned paint blobs with some texture brushes in Photoshop at the end of the painting, so I'll call it a happy accident.Β  I did almost everything else in Procreate.

Well, it really was a marvelous accident. I only have Gimp to work with, and it has been hard. My latest drawing took me such a long time to completeΒ Β

Gimp is actually a great program.Β  Try Krita too, I see a lot of people using it with great success.Β Β

There's a basic version of Photoshop available (Essentials) that's actually fairly cheap and allows you to use the brush engine (I believe).Β  By itself, Photoshop is just a tool.Β  Keep hacking and don't be discouraged.

Unfortunately, my budget isn't very good, so I can't spare in programs where you have to pay monthly. In the meantime, Gimp is a great option in the meantime, and if Krita is free as well, then perhaps I can try it too. I just hope I don't take very long to understand it. I'm not used to using programs like this, so it takes me a while to learn about them.

Krita is free, so is another program myPaint which is actually really good.Β  I don't know if either of them is available in Windows but I believe they are, I've used both in linux.Β  Once you learn the basics it's pretty easy.Β  Watch videos on Youtube on how to use the program and various features.Β Β

Yeah, that's usually what I do. A simple tutorial and all goes well. I shall try Krita then, if I can download it of course. Maybe it's a bit simpler than Gimp, or maybe I'll just use Paint. I'm still learning digital art, but the results I've seen are so amazing, I really want to get the hang of it

The GIMP is an excellent piece of software, it tries (and in some respects succeeds) to replace Photoshop.Β  I use it extensively, I've used it since more than a decade now.Β  It used to be a much bigger mess than it is right now.Β Β

Krita and MyPaint are better suited to artists who want to use the applications for drawing, rather than photo editing.Β  Let me know how it works out

Yeahs still have a lot to test, but I'll let you know if there's any progress. In the meantime, I truly enjoy watching your drawings. I tend to focus a lot on backgrounds, which is why I sometimes spend more time on them than the actual drawing itself
