Branwen is an independent woman with a vindictive streak. Not only does she prefer to go through life taking rules as only a suggestion, she’s not above dishing out verbal or physical retribution should one do her wrong- as she doesn't tolerate being taken lightly or being walked all over. Being a rather honest and outspoken person, this may present itself as a blessing or a curse as she will let you know what she truly thinks or feels, leaving no one left to wonder. However, she has a compelling tendency to be ambitious and haughty, only thinking about her own goals and interests. The exception to this being if another person manages to bring up something worthy of note or discussion.
Displaying a certain competitiveness and bravado, she takes pride in her cleverness and abilities, reacting to any failures personally and falling into a state of irritability should such an event occur. In this state she would rather be left alone lest she chooses instead to take her frustrations out on anything and anyone.
On the flip-side of her personality, while she exhibits the traits that make her out to be a bit rough-around-the-edges and difficult to deal with in certain social situations, she’s actually a very loyal and caring, albeit a bit passionate. Should one manage to peak her interest to the point where she feels them worthy of friendship, they would find a friend that would never desert and would come to their aid should the situation call for it. And then will proceed to give you a verbal lashing later, with love.
Background
Born and raised as a military brat, Branwen and her family hardly stayed for long in any city or state due to her father having been in the U.S. Air Force. Because of this it was always difficult for her to make and retain friendships and after a certain point in time, she completely stopped trying to form any meaningful relationships, choosing to instead do her own thing with the people around her as background characters to her life’s story. As a result of this switch of mentality, she put her time and effort into making herself seem impressive and better than everyone else until they were due to relocate again to a new base and she would never see them again. This became as a game of sorts to her. However the downside to her keeping others at an arm’s distance away was that she only had her brothers to interact with and, subsequently, contend to as they hardly got along with each other at all; fighting with each other constantly despite the strict punishments they would receive.
But as it would be, this way of life wouldn’t last for much longer as on the parent’s side of the situation, their mother had grown frustrated and tired of constantly moving, and being a pediatrician, this was inconvenient not only for herself, but for the patients she’s had to pass over to another doctor whenever they did. Eventually these increasing arguments had resulted in divorce with their mother taking Branwen and Rhodri to live back in her hometown of Crestwood, N.H. with their grandparents. That summer, Branwen spent her time getting to know the grandparents she barely even met and the unusual town they resided in. It was this bonding experience with her grandmother, however, that sparked an interest in plant life, as well as an appreciation for the wildlife around them. The way her grandmother spoke about them- the intricacies of each plant, the habits of certain animals, being taught to slow down to appreciate the nature around them from time to time- Branwen expected nothing less of a retired science teacher and was filled with admiration and a goal in mind for the future.
In the meantime, starting over again in school, but at the high school level, she met this with the same past trends; focusing on herself but now with her new found aspirations-- However, there had also been a slight change this time around in that she managed to find a select few peers that were actually worth her time here. Without concerns for suddenly moving, Branwen was able to fully enjoy herself and in just a few years she found herself attending the University of Crestwood. Currently, she's continuing work on obtaining both degrees in Plant Biology and Animal Biology; letting nothing get in her way, not even the 'supposed' bizarre activity of this little town.
