Description Swiss Cottage is a beautiful and tranquil ''cottage orne'' situated on an elevated site with access by stone steps{which was where the servants came in}.
-It was built in the early 1800's by Richard Butler, 1st Earl of Glengall.
-The architect was famous regency architect John Nash.
-Despite it's large appearance there are only 4 bedrooms.
-The Butlers never slept in the house at all when it was in there possession.
-It cost half a million to restore Swiss Cottage.
- Swiss cottage has absolutely NO relationship with Switzerland. It was just called Swiss Cottage by locals.

i wish there where more of this sort of building about but i guess with the renovation & insurance costs etc. it's hard to find anyone willing to do it.

Thank you, if you think the outside is impressive, you should have seen the inside The architecture was something else, the windows were just fantastic
It is a pity we were not allowed to take photo's inside....

yeah not even with no flash!? I hate that. I was in the natural history museum and they wouldnt let me take pics with the flash off! Taking a photo with no flash is a harmful as pointing a ham sandwich at the display. But sure they dont listen do they

No they don't listen, they're right and we're wrong It really annoys me when you can't take pictures at these place even without a flash Good joke by the way

Ah sure that the way some folk get there kicks. Well just have to become more stealth at taking photos lol like snap and run photographers
