I've been a Castlevania nut ever since Symphony of the Night came out on PS1. I fell head over heels for Ayami Kojima's artwork and in particular her designs for Richter Belmont and Alucard. There have not been many games that have had me as engrossed as SOTN - the sheer playability and the whole atmosphere are just... well, beyond words to me. The fact that it was traditional 2D pixel work turned up to 11 via 32 bit power just made me weep with joy. There are some kick-ass 3D games out there, but somehow 3D rendering never quite gives me the mind-horn in the same way as 2D. Anyway, enough of this babbling about my pixel fetishes.

It's been a busy time for me of late and I've had little opportunity to do any drawing that's purely for my own entertainment. But recently my obsession with Richter and Alucard has been re-ignited and I just had to draw them, dagnabbit.
This picture is the first of a few scribbles of the Castlevania: SOTN boys I've cranked out; you'll probably notice an underlying yaoi motif. That's right, I make no bones about the fact I badly want these two to get it on. It's a fangirl's dream - two moody bishounen with everything stacked against them; one's a vampire half-breed at odds with his dark heritage and the other's a vampire hunter who's been manipulated by evil forces... ooh, the angst! So sinfully delicious, it just HAS to be fattening.

Ahem. Well, there's nothing obviously pervy about this pic. Read between the lines though and you'll see that Richter's eyes are full of dark desire; he wants to claim Alucard but he doesn't know how, or if he can. Alucard is so strong, ethereal, immortal... unattainable. Or is he...? Ekkekeke!
