My advanced drawing series final assignment. My series is based on a nightmare I had a few years back that was along the lines of me being in a very cramped, dark room full of small aquarium cages everywhere, each one filled with baby rats that were dying and there were mother rats trying to save them but they were all dying too so I was trying to grab them all up to save them but there were too many. There was such a strong feeling of panic and anxiety in the dream that I tried to get across in my drawings.4th and last in the series. Self portrait again, looking uber pathetic. Reference used only for my silly face. And again, that's my gal Fenn I'm holding.
That was such a strange dream.

I've had very similar dreams with multiple cats dying/in danger and i'm trying to get to them all but i can't.

I know of a place like in your dream, there is a pet store in my town were the lights are always dim and the rats are overly bred and rarely have food or water. Being in there is really high anxiety because you wan't to save them all but can't (Michigan laws don't protect rats, so law enforcers wont help) Its weird for me to see your dream because it almost looks like that place.

I love the expression of hope on your face, it makes it seem like no matter how dark our dreams get, there's always a light. We just need to find it. Not sure if that's the feeling you were trying to get across... >.>

It feels like you're the rat inside the cage now, with some larger creature looking in on you.

I immediately was amazed with this drawing. I appreciate the perplexed expression on your face and the dark coloring. I can feel your confusion and discomfort just by glancing at this drawing, and that is what I value in art--
the ability to express emotions so clearly. I think the title was aptly chosen, too. Well done!
