Patriots we are, ~stargirl91 and I went to the LZ Peace Memorial in Rockford, IL the evening of July 4th and decided to take pictures. I'd like to go again in the daylight with the same camera when the mosquitoes aren't eating us alive.
To honor those who sacrifice their time, and in some cases their lives, in the service of the United States of America. God bless you, and please come home safe.

haha. i had about an hour beforehand to figure it out, so it wasn't totally lost on me how to work it and i was past the "ooh, shiny!" phase because i'd seen and played around with it before.

Just out of curiosity do most American cities call them peace memorials as opposed to war memorials? I'm Canadian and here we call them war memorials (even though most cities haven't been updated since WWII era).

Nah, this is just a peace memorial for a change. We have war memorials like those for Pearl Harbor etc as well.
