Description            Danika dusted off her skirt and moved to the side allowing enough space for her mother to appear.  Alden Kelly placed a hand on his daughter's shoulder and waited for is wife to appear.  As the fireplace shown a flash of green light, the figure of Seraphina Kelly appeared before them.  After straightening her dress and fixing her hair, they set out into Diagon Alley.
Though their trip was meant to be for Danika and her school supplies, their first stops were all about her mother as they headed into shops such as Twilfitt and Tattings and Madam Malkins.  Currently they were in Madam Primpernelle's Beautifying Potions.  Seraphina was looking for a wrinkle-refining potion when Danika became annoyed.
"Mother I would like a potion to darken my skin and enhance my curves."  Danika demanded.
"Darling you are still growing.  You need not worry about your figure as long you as you stay thin."  Reassured Seraphina.
"And what of my skin?" Insisted Danika
"You are beautiful as you are.  Why are you so worried about your appearance all of a sudden?"
"I'm too pale.  I don't want to start a new school looking like a vampire.  I don't want everyone knowing I'm ill, or worse, thinking I'm a freak."  As she declared her concerns, Danika began to tear up.  She lowered her head and placed her hands over her eyes.
"Oh my sweet, don't think that way.  Oh, well, I think you are beautiful as you are but if it will give you peace you may have the potion.  Madam I'll take a tanning potion as well, thank you."  Seraphina added as she turned toward the saleswoman.
Danika lifted her head and smiled.  "Thank you mother.  I want to start off on the right foot."  Madam Primpernelle handed her the potion and they headed out the door.  As they headed to Flourish and Blotts to retrieve the required books, Danika noticed something in a shop window.  It was a white cloak embroidered with intricate gold appliqué.  She wandered over to the window to have a closer look.  The cloak was beautifully designed with a long trail and large hood.  The fabric, despite the elaborate design, was very light and would flow with every gust of wind.
A boy, a bit older than she, came over to Danika as she marveled over the cloak.  "That would look beautiful on you."  The boy remarked.
"No it would look beautiful on a tanned blonde." Replied Danika.
"Eh, blondes are overrated. And I think you have beautiful skin."  The boy lifted his hand to gently touch her skin, but before contact a woman called to them.
"Danika!  Come hither darling, we need to be moving along."  Came the voice of Seraphina Kelly.  Danika looked in the direction of where her mother's voice seemed to come from for just a moment, but when she looked back the boy had already gone.  As she stood there watching to catch a glimpse of the boy, her mother strode over to her side.  "Oh honey don't wander off, there's too many filthy heathens around here."
"Heathens mother?"
"Yes, people of chaos, so stay close."  Danika rolled her eyes and decided not to waste her time correcting her mother, who began to walk away.
"Wait." Danika commanded.  She held up her hand and placed the vile of skin darkening potion in her mother's hand.  "I don't want that.  But I do want this."  She said motioning toward the cloak.
After having their house elf, Kronk, retrieve the cloak; they headed off for Flourish and Blotts.  Danika entered the store followed distantly by her parents.  She headed up the stairs to her left and searched for the potions section.  She walked down the isle to find the required book for her class, Magical Drafts and Potions.  Picking up the book, she let it fall open and began scanning the chapters.   As she glimpsed what the semester would bring, another girl around her age appeared in the isle and reached for a copy of Magical Drafts and Potions.  The girl had blonde hair and stood a good five inches taller than Danika.
"Hi.  My name is Danika.  Are you starting at Hogwarts this semester as well?"  Danika inquired as she extended her hand.
"Yep.  Name's Tallen."  The girl swung her arm around to shake the outstretched hand.  "Not sure how much I'll be looking forward to potions though."  She said as she waved the book in the air.
"I definitely am.  I'm going to lace my food with Hiccupping Solution so maybe my brothers' will think twice about stealing down my food.  If the hiccups don't work, they're getting boils."  Danika thought aloud as she pursed her lips at the bitterness of her brothers bullying.
"Ha, luckily I don't have bothers to steal my food.  Just got the little sis."  Tallen informed Danika.
"You're lucky.  So what house do you think you'll be sorted into?  Do you have one in mind you would like to be placed in?"  Inquired Danika.
"Haven't thought too much on it.  Don't want to get my expectations up and not get what I expected.  I'll be happy wherever I end up.  What about you?"
"Well my eldest brother in Ravenclaw and I think I'd be quite content there but my second eldest brother is in Hufflepuff, so anything can happen really."
"Ah.  I don't have siblings in Hogwarts. So it's all up to the hat.  Well I guess I'll be seeing you on the train?"
Yeah, I look forward to it.  See you later."  Danika waved and lowered her head back into the book.  At the sound of a creaking floor she looked up again and as she went to look back at the book she caught a glimpse of a maroon book with silver lining.  The spine of the book read Grabbing Attention.  Danika slid the book off the shelf and laying it on top of Magical Drafts and Potions she opened to the table of contents.  Slamming it shut with a smile she placed the book under her textbook and headed down stairs to hand off the books to Kronk.  Not mentioning the book to her mother, she placed all the required texts together with the book and had her mother purchase them all.
They headed outside and began to walk down the alley.  As they passed a café Danika stopped.  "Mother can't I just go to the café while Father and you finish shopping?  I'm getting dizzy.  It's too much activity."  She complained.  Her mother strode over to her daughter with haste and placed a hand on her forehead.  "Mother I'm fine, I'm just a little dizzy.  It'd be better if I sat and had a cup of tea while Kronk runs around fetching my supplies."
"Yes I suppose that would be best.  There's too much filth to be walking around on such a hot day.  Go on my dear, sit over there and we shall return shortly."  Her mother spun around and glided off to catch up with her husband; her dress flowing behind her.
Danika waited until her mother was out of sight before turning around and walking toward a shop decorated with bright colors and a goofy man inviting in consumers.  Entering, Danika found herself in a world of color, surrounded by bins and displays of brightly colored objects and two men in flamboyant suits.  The redheaded man approached the new customer and greeted her with a wide grin.  "Welcome to Weasely's Wizard Wheezes where wayward tomfoolery meets your wishes.  May I interest you in a love potion or perhaps a patented daydream charm?"  The red haired man asked as he pointed to each product.   "Or did the young lady have something more mischievous in mind?  Maybe you need a quick answer quill or an extendable ear.  Need to get out of class?  The Skiving Snackbox is always good to have around for those pesky quiz days."  The salesman held up a box of sweets for Danika to smell.
"Hehe."  Danika giggled, blushing a little.  "No I won't be needing that thank you, and I'm sure I won't need an enchanted quill but I would like to have a look at the extendable ear."  Danika confessed as she pointed toward the display of ears on a string.
"Ah a nosy one I see.  Don't worry we are two birds of a feather."  The salesman reassured at the sight of Danika's embarrassment.  "The extendable ear can reach as long as your direct sight, and can hear through solid walls and doors that are not under the Imperturbable Charm."
"How long do they last?"  Questioned Danika.
"Depends how well you treat them. If you let your cat eat it, well, its done."  Replied the salesman.
"I'll take two.  Just in case."  Danika smiled at the redheaded man.  "What else do you have that may interest me?"
"Among the girls the love potions, ten-second pimple vanisher and the daydream charms are the most popular, but I suppose your interest lies more in the mischievous section."  In sighted the salesman.  "Over here we have puking pastilles, canary creams, nosebleed nougats, fever fudge-"
"Actually I think I'll take a few puking pastilles, and fever fudge.  You know what I'll take a few of each of those.  My brother's will surely grab them out of my hands.  It will freak them out."  Danika concluded.
"Being one of many brother's to only one sister, I feel for your brothers."
"Hey do you want my business are not?"  Danika laughed as she put her hands on her hips.
"I'm just sayin,' I happen to be on the opposite side of that situation."  He continued on through the store.
"Do you have anything to conceals something other than your head?"  Asked Danika as she motioned toward the Headless Hat.
"What would you like to conceal?"
"A bag, a small object, or maybe make something easier to carry?"
"Well we have a shopping bag we have been working on so those who are with you cannot see what you've got or that you've been here.  So as not to give away the pranks.  If you come back I can look into anything else."  The salesman pushed.
"That would be great.  For now I'll take the bag if you don't mind.  I'll return to see what else you come up with."  Danika flashed the salesman a playful grin and headed to the counter where she paid for her purchases and attached the invisible bag to her waist.  "Thank you!  I'll see you soon." Danika waved and spun around to strut out the store.  Behind her, she heard the salesman say 'hope so.'
The café Danika was supposed to be waiting at was fairly vacant outside.  Taking a seat under a yellow umbrella, Danika waved over the waitress and orders a chai with a with a few Treacle Treats which she fed to the birds to make it look as if she ate, so her mother wouldn't harass her.  Not long after she was served, Seraphina and Alden appeared, closely followed by Kronk with his hands full.  Seraphina made her way to her daughter and grabbed her face examining her eyes.
"Mother you are aware that fever and dilated pupils are not symptoms of anemia, aren't you?"  Danika questioned.
"Yes but they are signs of other diseases.  We already know you have anemia and you know if it is acting up, and can voice those concerns. "  Her mother stated and sharply released her daughter's face.  "You barely touched your chai and don't think for a second think I don't know you fed those treats to the birds.  Ma'am I'll take a blancmange to go please." Seraphina gestured for the waitress.
After receiving the blancmange and paying the bill, the family traveled home.  Danika all set for her trip to Hogwarts in the coming month.

*Note:  Danika did not visit Ollivander's (obviously he did not make her wand as it is made with Veela Hair) nor did she visit any other wand maker because she had her wand custom made for her.  They had attempted to import different wands, but they did not work with her.  So instead Alden imported a maker.
