The horizontal central-ness makes this.

What's horizontal central-ness?Β

The dog being horizontal and central, sorry i could have just said that, being lazy. Like the couple are walking diagonally, the background is diagonal and the dog is side on. Not entirely, but his head is. Have grass cutting into him too.

I was in Florence and an old man was walking his dog across the road, so I aimed and then he picked it up and hurried away.

That could be a photo, I guess?

Yeah I got some, was quite murky, not too clear. I just sometimes wonder if he felt threatened, some stranger staring. Do people steal dogs. Or maybe he didn't notice me and just likes carrying his dog. I'm not at a place where i will chase the old man carrying his dog away from me to get some more shots. In the same place i saw a bulldog on a couch and then its owner said; you have a photo, pay. Imagine every time you took a shot the subject ran after you demanding payment for it.

You really can't do much about people's reactions.
They have their backgrounds with whatever happened in their lives.
What you do have to do is to try and assess when not to take the shot.
To be respectful of the subject and try not to get into a bad situation.
I'd never pay for shots in the street.

I've never been punched! That's my barometer of success. My ugliness couldn't take a broken nose. I'll never feel as much of a belonging as in sharing encounters with other photographers in a photographers anonymous meeting to cope with the anxiety.

I haven't been punched either. At least not after the age of 12...
Let's hope we won't jinx it by saying this and get punched tomorrow!Β

Thank you!Β
I wonder about all this carrying of dogs. Don't they need the excercise? Our dog sure needs it!

Interesting insight. The needs of the owner, not the dog...
