If I had played both Freedom Planet and Undertale blind, I would probably that Freedom Planet was the better game until Omega Flowey showed up. Sure, Undertale has a quirky sense of humor, a unique battle system, great characters, and some great songs, but my preference for platformers, fondness for the 2D Sonic the Hedgehog games, and Freedom Planet's well-written characters (even if the story is a little exposition heavy) would tip the balance in favor of Freedom Planet most of the way. Both the buildup and boss battle with Omega Flowey would at worst, put Undertale on even footing with Freedom Planet.
