This one, like most of Nikolas' work is full of emotion. He has effectively vignetted the subject giving an impression that perhaps the darkness is lifting. In any event, the effect draws the viewer to the subject, with the surrounding well saturated deep greens and very dark trees. It's up to the viewer to decide if the brightness and the subject looking at the sky has psychological significance, and if so, is he looking at the end of this small bright patch, to be consumed by darkness, or is he seeing the cloud dissipate, and waiting for a brighter future.

Knowing his great work, we know there is a meaning, but he wants us to get in his head and figure it out ourselves, the way he questions everything in his life. I can't criticize him for making us work for it. This is yet another of his works that we will re-visit often. The only criticism I have, is that the subject is so small, I had to use other clues to ascertain that it was Nikolas himself. Knowing him, this may have been intentional and maybe just one more way to screw with us!

aaaah this made me so joyful to read, the way you put it makes me feel, frankly said, very professional ahahaha. I am really glad you see this kind of ideas in the photo, moreover because it was my intention and I like to see that my "plans are coming true" if you sense what I mean in the first place. to be truthful also, originally I had wanted to go more into the gregory-crewdson-kind-of-style, meaning that the person was bigger, but I figured it wasn't possible to get the entire valley without going up so high, therefore I just accepted the fact that I am so small in this, moreover, as you said, I decided to play with it.

thank you for your words. I truly and fully appreciate it.

Oh goodness I love this one. Your crispness compared to the blurriness of the trees... the colors, the lighting... Gosh, there's so much I could say about the composition of this piece. It's probably my new favorite from you. :]
