Description The king of Isla Sorna! One of the few dinosaurs not on InGen's list. Why that? Maybe because it's an hybrid between a Spinosaurus and a Baryonyx? Could be. I always loved the design and it's appearance in Jurassic Park ///.

I've always theorized that the Spinosaurus was a hybrid predecessor to the Indominus for a while.

NikoRex In reply to NTSEFAN [2018-08-30 17:34:15 +0000 UTC]

I really can't see why they would create the Spinosaurus as an hybrid predecessor. I've said it many times here, that every JP dinosaur is to some degree a hybrid (they share DNA with other animals) Claire stating that the Indominus rex is the first genetically modifyed hybrid, meaning, the animal was intentionally created to look like it does in the movie (to look scary, draw attention etc.)

NTSEFAN In reply to NikoRex [2018-09-03 01:17:52 +0000 UTC]

Because the Spinosaurus shares similar aspects with some similar looking dinosaurs like Spinosaurus, Baryonyx, Suchomimus, Irritator and a few others. I imagine it as a attempt to create a hybrid dinosaur with several species, before the Indominus. As for what Claire said, maybe it's because Claire was likely never told about the Spinosaurus.Β Plus she's an idiot. Β Β

NikoRex In reply to NTSEFAN [2018-09-04 17:35:01 +0000 UTC]

Well, look at the Dilophosaurus. It's basically an hybrid with the Chlamydosaurus, because it shares the same attribute of the frill. So technically the Dilopho is the first.Β
What I always want to say is that they are basically all hybrids. It's even what Wu said in JW.Β  I don't see the Spinosaurus as an first attempt to have an genetically modified hybrid. This honor goes to the
I.rex I mean, Hammond never wanted to "design" his own dinosaur. Masrani wanted one and he did.

I mean, you can feel free to believe in what you want and have your own theory. It's just that I don't go that much deep. To me, the Spino belongs in the same category as the Dilophosaurus, Raptors, JP/// Pteranodons etc.

NTSEFAN In reply to NikoRex [2018-09-07 16:56:02 +0000 UTC]

The difference is the Dilophosaurus is basically a hybrid of it with about two modern day animals. What I'm trying to say is the Spinosaurus in JP3 has been theorized to be basically a hybrid of several dinosaurs, basically a test bed of sort to see what can be done with genetics. I'm not the only one who thinks of this. There are plenty of people out there who theorized that the Spinosaurus in Jurassic Park 3 was basically the hybrid predecessor to the Indominus, basically a prototype of sorts, and considering that Jurassic World came out three ago, it wouldn't surprise me if it were the case that the Spinosaurus from Jurassic Park 3 was a hybrid.

As for what you said about "Hammond never wanted to "design" his own dinosaur", it's likely possible that Ingen went behind his back to make the Spinosaurus, considering they have done some shady stuff in the past.

I know that.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NikoRex In reply to NTSEFAN [2018-09-08 01:19:17 +0000 UTC]

But I wouldn't go that far. Okay, maybe the Spinosaurus was the first that got DNA from a dinosaur and to be fair,
it got DNA from a dinosaur that is in the same family as the Spino. The I.rex still takes the cake for being basically
a melting pot of different species from different families. To me, InGen just went a step further and mixing the DNA
with a close relative to make the Spinosaurus.Β

Well if InGen would go behind Hammonds back, then they'd basically do the same thing, just like with every other JP dinosaur.
In the end, Hammond would get a "fake" Spinosaur, just like he did got a "fake" Raptor etc. You see, we're getting back to my first topic.
There was no need to create a hybrid to do some shady stuff. More a desperate attempt to fill the gaps.
Claire and Wu on the other hand presented the investors the new "asset" as a hybrid, to get more visitors and sell more tickets.
The animal even did look like a complete new creature.

Oof lol XD 'Cause they suggest that JP3 Spinosaurus is a hybrid too, I didn't watch it though, so I'm sorry if I just assumed it was a hybrid between Bary and Spino ^^'

No need to feel sorry. ^^ I don't check these YouTubers that often. It could be a mix of those two.Β
Crash McCreery stated that they've started the maquette as a Baryonyx and later put a sail on it's back.
In my head canon, I believe when they first discovered it's DNA, but it was full of holes and totally incomplete.
So Wu found out that the DNA of the Baryonyx had much in common with the DNA of the Spino and
to some degree and mixed it together. ^^

I already did the math, and science to say that Spino would have lost the battle with Dead Homie, but because Jurassic Park is never accurate, because it was either made back in the day before everybody knew that dinosaurs had feathers, or because they didn't give a single shit, and wanted to ruin the franchise, If this thing returned in Jurassic World 3 (If there ever is one), then it should have a battle with either Rexy, or a new dinosaur hybrid. Because if it can take down Dead Homie (BECAUSE THIS SERIES DEFIES THE LAWS OF DINOSAUR LOGIC, AND PHYSICS) Then it can probably take on Indominus Rex, and kill it.

NikoRex In reply to GangsterGoji2K5 [2018-07-09 07:40:13 +0000 UTC]

According to new science discoveries, yes. Definatley. That they wanted to ruin the franchise is kinda harsh. Like you said, they only worked with what they knew back in the day. And the Spino kills the rex was Jack Horners idea. He is a person, who doesn't like the T.rex very much. That's why he made the rex on purpose weaker, by telling propaganda stories how the real life Spinosaurus was the ultimate predator and Johnston kinda relied to a man of science.
But hey: At least Spino snapped rex' neck with his arms and did not crush it with it's bite force.

Very good! I've read that this dinosaur is not a true spinosaurus but infact a hybrid that Dr.Wu had developed by accident in an attempt to give dinosaurs feathers.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NikoRex In reply to gojisan [2018-07-04 21:08:57 +0000 UTC]

I don't know how the Spinosaurus is a failed result from giving dinosaurs feathers. To me, the Spinosaurus genome was so broken and in a much more lower quality than a average genome, so that InGen had to compare the DNA of other animals and Spino's relatives and splice them together, so that you have a Spinosaurus with many attributes of a Baryonyx.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

kingrexy In reply to NikoRex [2018-07-07 08:02:02 +0000 UTC]

It has nothing to do with an attempt to give it feathers. But this is the first ever hybrid ever made. Why not rename it spino hybrid? Or maybe write that in the description?

Well, tecnically every dinosaur is a hybrid. They share the DNA of many other creatures. Some more, some less (e.g. Dilophosaurus).

I don't really want to go that deep and assume that the Spinosaurus was the first attempt of making hybrids. We all know that the Indominus was the first genetically modified hybrid. Masrani wanted that animal, Claire supervised it and Wu created it.
It's simple.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kingrexy In reply to NikoRex [2018-07-07 08:46:32 +0000 UTC]

I know, but the indominus and indoraptor etc are different types. And I think that in the JP universe, dilophosaur's frill might be a thing, cuz the taxedermizedΒ version also has them.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NikoRex In reply to kingrexy [2018-07-07 10:56:30 +0000 UTC]

The taxedermized version is a fan thing (just like the V. antirrhopus nublarensis) To me, there is no such thing as imagine taxes. The Dilophosaurus is a D. wetherilli with frilled lizard DNA in it. And that is the same with the Velociraptors, the Spinosaurus and the others
