I love the biomechanical style a lot.
Before you've made a digital remake - was it a pencil sketch and is this picture Photoshop only or did you use other programs too?

The pic is really amazing. The shading, the incredible details and naturally the combination of organic and mechanic.
I love it - a great work!!!

Thanx a lot for the watch zero-tx !

the design was first made with pencil back in 2001...heres a link from sketch: [link]

for the digital remake i just used my tablet on photoshop, with basic brushes.

Best wishes

Thank's for the reply!
I've to thank you for sharing this great pice of artwork and for showing me the original pencil sketch.

I was very surprised when i saw, that the incredible details were added digitally .
I try the biomechanical style also - and in my gallery you see one of my first tries to do so. With Photoshop i work over 8 years but im specialized in photo retouching - and brushing like you've done in that sketch is a book with 7 seals for me, i can't imagine how i do so.

But after i've seen your pice and the original from which you've created that i'm highly motivated to digitalize my "Biomechanical eye" and will see, if i can create such a great pic too.

You casually don't give lessons to do so?

Best regards

hey Zero.

bUt ofcourse the details were added digitally!! Thats the beauty of the tablet

and you havent seen everything on the small size..so heres 2 links from close ups..

My digital canvas is 70x100 at 120 dpi. Because of my old computer i cant have such a big image with layers, so i use to work on a layer the detail, and after that i'm merging the layer down, and create a new layer for the new part of detail im working...
but this is not smth u should follow, unless u have a slow pc working on a huge psd..
its preferable to work on layers so u can always have the abiliity to change colors,depth,etc..

Your mechanic eye would be great in a digitall remake, just go for it...`

You will notice that theres no brushing with other than the basic brushes...

Thanks for showing me a closeup of your picture. I'm amazed how detailed it is. It's awesome .

You say it so easy to try with the standard brush a digital remake. But as you can see on my mechanical eye i can't shading perfectly with a pencil not to mention with the brush and Photoshop. I think that my imagination isn't still enough to shade with the brush. Everytime i try it - i fail because such incredible detail like you've made in your closeup, i don't know where i should begin or how i can do so .
I've seen many tutorials on digital shading. But none which is busy on digitalizing a pencil sketch like mine. I don't give up... But the starting point is very hard for me.

Thank you very much for explaining me your technic!!!
Hope to hear from you again .

Best regards...

I love this! It's very cool and Gigerish, with a great colour balance. One day I intend to digitise my own surrealist drawings, this has given me inspiration!
