Wukong and Macaque openly talk about their feelings. Well, the alcohol helped them a bit. 😓
In my HC, Macaque always loved Wukong. He fell in love with him as a teenager. He was giving him his appreciation and the love he thought he wanted. Monkey King, however, only loved him as a friend (he is aroace). He knew how Macaque felt and didn't interfere. He didn't deny or insist on his feelings and actions. They were really happy after all. For Wukong, Macaque was and is the only person who can get as close to him as he can. They both genuinely miss each other's company, but there's still a wall they've put up between them. It takes time to break it down...
