TOSKA: "Russian – Vladmir Nabokov describes it best: 'No single word in English renders all the shades of toska. At its deepest and most painful, it is a sensation of great spiritual anguish, often without any specific cause. At less morbid levels it is a dull ache of the soul, a longing with nothing to long for, a sick pining, a vague restlessness, mental throes, yearning. In particular cases it may be the desire for somebody of something specific, nostalgia, love-sickness. At the lowest level it grades into ennui, boredom.'”

I'm feeling rather repetitive. This should change VERY soon because my last day of school is tomorrow.

I love the photograph, and the word. I feel it describes how I feel perfectly, and I've been looking for a word to describe how i feel. I even feel a little better knowng there's a word for how I'm feeling, because I've never been able to describe it to my husband while he is deployed.

....now to learn more Russian...

That's very interesting... My step mother's childhood pet was named Toska. Hmm...
This one feels especially eerie. I feel as if I'm just waiting for something to step out of that sheer black behind you. Was that made darker in post? Or are you just that awesome???

Lol, you're silly. It wasnt specifically supposed to be darker, it just kind of turned out that way, haha.

It is a difficult word! I remember trying to explain this to a classmate and I just felt short, the best I could come with is, "when you really want something, so much it almost hurts, and you don't even know what this something is."

BTW, another tough word is vypendrivitsa.
