CROSSOVER/HBP SPOILER ALERT!!! I figured that, just like Gollum was a slave to the Dark Lord Sauron's ring (which was practically his soul), Ginny Weasley was a slave to the Dark Lord Voldemort's diary, which turned out to be a peice of his soul. Now, since we all know Voldie wanted to use something belonging to Ravenclaw as a vessel for his soul, but artifacts that belonged to such great people are hard to find after a thousand years, all he might have been able to find was a SOCK......... and we all know Dobby loves socks.
