I've been listening to "The Riddle" from The Scarlet Pimpernel. It's a powerful song in my opinion, and I've been venting a lot through it over the last few days.If you wanna listen, click here: [link] For some reason, the best recording I found of the song has Prof Layton images over it. Ignore those I guess.
I think this is some sort of Victorian version of Laney, probably one of her past lives that I haven't written yet. She's good to vent with, anyhow; easy to draw.

I was going to say, this ISN'T an inkwash or done on some specific type of paper? It really astonishes me that this has such gorgeous textures to it and wonderful little shades of brown all throughout it. I can see how Laney looks Victorian and the picture, but it's a little hard to tell that she is due to the look of the painting (Not that that is a mark against this) It has that wonderful look to it like a burning letter or a treasure map. I really like this painting. ^_^

I keep on forgetting that this isn't one of your inkwashes. I think you should feel good about that. Excellent use of paper texture, you really utilized it for the picture instead of just slapping it on like some folks do. The picture is dark and mysterious and I get a feeling of mistrust from the character. It's effective.
The song is very dark and it was never one of my favorites, but I'm glad it's been therapeutic for you. I wish I could find a way to show the Scarlet Pimpernel to you. I'm so happy that you like one of my favorite shows so much. <3

Yeah, I spent kinda a while trying to make the wash look real. Silly cuz I can do that on my own but hey. It was kinda fun.
