Interesting! Your alien reminds me of a character from the computer game "Soma".
The storyline is about a copying people's consciousness to robot bodies.

Hmm, idk. Is consciousness a physical thing? If it is, if it can be quantified somehow, then yes. I think it can be done.
But I don't think consciousness is such a thing, so ultimately, I think no. Do you think so? I've had fantasies of recording my dreams, is that possible? (Someday?)

I've always wondered how it is that in dreams you can experience different emotions that you didn't feel in real life (like guilt, when you killed someone) or situations (flying, being a ghost).

Right, I have a lot of dreams that don't match the reality of my emotions.
I have a lot of guilt dreams about things that I shouldn't really be guilty about.
And yes, I sometimes have supernatural powers in my dreams. Sometimes I'm super sexy but then the guilt takes over, haha.
Yeah, we can read brain activity. We can read electrical activity and trace it to certain parts of the brain which supposedly represent certain emotions.
But, I don't think we can tell what thoughts or memories are sparked to initiate those physical responses. Maybe there is a way to access that consciousness, but we might have to take metaphysics (ESP, ghosts, etc.) as seriously as we take physics. Just a thought, I haven't really formed an opinion about this matter yet.
