So, a speculation. You confirmed in part 7 that the resilience of Snow in the face of the miasma was due to Sam's experience in the human world, where the miasma was generated. Since Tau Sunflare is responsible for the humans-in-equestria crossing over, fought the misama personally, and knew what it took to defeat it,
Is it likely that Tau Sunflare chose an H.I.E.--that being Snow--whom she knew would become a Heart Healer just for this mission? Were multiple H.I.E. brought over in hopes that one would be a Heart Healer? Did Celestia mention this specific need to Tau Sunflare after noticing the "weakness" in Willow? Crabapple saw it in part 3 and probably told Celestia, if he mentioned it to Rook.

Great speculation, but in this case no. Tau is no god and didn't have the power to forsee this. She and Orbash are care-givers. They care for the fledgling ponyverse and "feed" it with beautiful souls from time to time. Heartsong is one, but not the only.

I really want to see what she did for each of them to get such loyal, loving friends in them... so dedicated that it ultimately crushes them at having "failed" her...

Being able to stand on your own is great, being able to suck up your pride and admit you need help or have a problem is on a completely different level. But there is, in my own experience a point of no return. Lucky they acted when they did because she was getting incredibly close to that line.

Most definitely. As for Crystal Quarry and Heartsong, I don't know. There's a lot I can't say about their experience... I suppose I could make it up, but that doesn't seem right. All I can say is that there is love and that they are together and therefore they are happy.
