It already has. When Nightmare Moon was banished, the 1000 year plan to weaken the Maisma and free Luna began. Modern events spell the end of the Maisma.

No no... In the Elements comic series, Princess Celestia saw a vision of the future if Nightmare Moon wasn't stopped. Some of it leaked to Willow and this is what she's suffering from. This is what the future WOULD have been, but never will be.

Mother of Orbosh that is horrifying!!!!! It took me a minute to realize that was Celestia (or what was left of her) in the jaws of that....thing! I knew Heartstrong would be the last pony standing, but it only just occurred to me that she was leading the group the whole time. Β I noticed her horn was glowing in part 3 when their hooves were joined in a circle, so I imagine now she must have been preparing the other healers for this ordeal. Β I guess her being human helped her immensely here, and Rose Petal having lived through Nightmare Night's worst parts had the resolve. Β And Rose looks pissed! In this one rare instance, maybe raging against evil was what was needed to conquer it! Amazing series so far Great Brony! Β Can't wait for page 8!Β

Yup! Most people haven't mentioned it, but Heartsong has had the lead from the start. In the case of the circle, she was quieting their hearts so Willow wouldn't notice them inside and run. She was making the ambush possible.

I'm wondering if Heartsong's background as a human is the reason why she's the only one strong enough to bear it alongside Rose Petal. After all, the human world is a whole hell of a lot darker than Equestria, so a scene like this might not be as shocking to her as it would be to the others.

As painful as it was for Luna to be banished to the moon for 1,000 years I think being forced to eat her own beloved sister on top a bed of pony skulls would have been a trillion times WORSE for her. Thank the ponygod for the original element bearers.

Luna has long since been destroyed by this point in the possible timeline. In fact, if Celestia and her parents hadn't worked so quickly to rescue her, she'd have been lost almost immediately.

I personally always loved the idea of Celestia's and Luna's mother and father being named Queen Cosmos and King Nebula but that's just my little fan cannon. I really do love the name Tau Sunflare. ^_~

Just another observation: I know Luau has not been seen or mentioned at all. I trust Crabapple would have informed all of their closest friends for this intervention and those informed would most definitely participate in it.

Can't. The healers have special training as well as various vows of cofidentiality and such. Bringing in an outsider wasn't really a possibility as far as they're concerned. Rose is the exception. She was never an official Heart Healer, but she was an insider none-the-less.

I see. "Participate" wasn't the best word choice then. I was wondering if she is at least aware of the plan and if so, she'd be there alongside Rook and Crabapple. Even if she weren't doing anything directly, she'd be with her friends at the very least.Β

I would say there's a lot of planning involved in making this happen and she was definitely a part of that. But being unable to participate, she may have felt most comfortable far away and occupied. I haven't said yet, but this process will take hours.

I think I've come to understand the nature and relationships of our world and the FiM world to an extent in your universe. If this grim vision of the future had indeed occurred, might the darkness that overtook Luna have spread to other planets beyond FiM's or have there already been other planets that have been victimized and consumed by the Miasma?

I think of it as being self contained. As it tore down the ponyverse, any connections to other worlds would fall with it. It's like destroying all the beams in the building you're destroying from the inside. It comes crashing down on you.
