Description
The starter design to an OC. She's a work in progress though. Still, i like this picture and it gives of the kind of cute/youthful yet sexy vibe i wanted the character to have.Coloured in copics, outlined in fineliner. Usual deal.

baby skin pink and brick beige for shading. i didnt use many colours for this, its really simple flat colouring

the cheerleader-esque uniform definitely sets the tone for this one. the pose is innocent AND mischievous ! her expression is good too, though if animation taught me anything, it's that you can never have too much exaggeration. needless to say, i think, next time you draw her, see if you can almost OVER-do her pose. i know it sounds dumb, but it actually is a great character-building task.
DRAW HER HANDS DAMNIT. you didn't develop such great skills to skimp on one of the parts of the body which reveals the most character. unless, she's clogging herself, which makes total sense.

I had actually thought about her being a cheerleader, then i played around with the time setting the story would take place in...but now im back to the present time and i havent thought about it this much. I dont know ifit would add much to her character, except that she does have that kind of personality and i wanted her to be a little athletic and cheerleadings like a 'cute' sport haha. Ive actually been printing off a lot of disney and cartoon screencaps from movies of differant expressions and such to try and copy and learn from and thats going pretty good in the sketching stage.

ha! i am so good at picking these things. i must be one of those observant masterminds, like sherlock holmes or that OCDin' Monk. cheerleaders always seem cute, but i've always seen them as being quite the opposite. dunno why. well that's good! those sorts of drawings are usually called studies, and they're really good to develop your style without having to put much thought into composition (because you're drawing a movie still-shot).
