Awww...so precious! A few years ago, I purchased a real rabbit fur pelt. I had no idea what I was going to do with it but it was just so soft and pretty. I have been thinking about using it to make a teddy bear but am not sure if it will work since the fur is the complete leather pelt? No satin lining...just the rough leathery pelt.

Thanks. With real fur you have to line it yourself. Best thing to do is cut all the pieces & then cut them again in a cotton like fabric & glue them to the leather side of the fur, then you sewn it with a leather needle. Some fur can't be used if the leather is too dry, and some leather has to be conditioned to be used (this happens a lot when using old garments like I do) Sadly one rabbit pelt would be too small to make a bear because the pieces need to be able to turn so they can't be too tiny. Hope that helps ^_^

Wow really? It's made from an old recycled coat. I did not kill rabbits to make the bear. Nor did I buy just fur for the purpose of making a bear. I'm an animal lover & think fur is wrong.
Don't you think it's a better tribute to the rabbits than been worn around as clothing? Read that is was recycled fur next time before you leave a rude comment. Some people owe old furs that have been in theor familys and that they don't want to wear & I simply make them into bears for them.

I read that the fur is recycled. What you didnt say was that you had the coat already and didnt buy it. You should state that, which seems more important.

Well sorry I didn't think about that.... I make stuffed animals for a living and people send me old furs all the time. I never thought about putting that much detail into the info like the age of the fur or where I got it. I thought recycled would cover it, (also I said recycled OLD coat not just fur coat) seeing as I did not say something "like I went hunting & skinned something to make a bear" or "I went and bought this fur from a dealer or furrier" ....
They sale real fur rabbit pelts at Hobby Lobby & other craft store but I don't buy them for bears or do I buy them at all for crafts. Does it matter if I buy a coat from Goodwill or if someone sends it too me? The sadly the animals has already been killed and made into a coat...I'm not supporting the fur trade by making an old coat into a bear. Oh & if you have an issue with my art send me a note rather than posting something you know nothing about.

Ok, sorry for the miss understanding. See, I thought you bought an old coat from someone who kills them at a farm for a living, just to make the bear. Im very sorry for being rude.

Yeah. I know, its just hard to tell people who support furs, and people who dont apart sometimes, like i said before sorry for the confusion.
