3/13 I am sorry to report that Guts has passed this morning.
In case you didn't know, he was quite the extraordinary goldfish: He had a bent spine, broken pectoral fin, and only one eye. He changed colors 4 times (from green-gold, to black, to brown, to calico, to orange), and has been such a source of joy to me. He was very funny, and his tank buddy Fudgems loved him dearly. He loved taking Guts' long tail and wearing it on his head like a hat. They swam around everywhere together, never leaving each other's side. Guts was the dominant fish, so he would chase Fudgems from time to time, but he loved him. When I put little plastic gems in their tank, he would hoard them and collect them into a corner. The second one would be moved, he would obsessively put it back with the rest. He lived an awesome 4 1/2 years of life.
Because I can't bring myself to just flush him or toss him in the garbage, I am freezing him until this Saturday where I will be bringing him home and burying him. He was too amazing of a goldfish to deserve any less.

He's pulled through things before, but I don't think this time will be like the others.
