Description This is one of my alien animals, called the Gracam, nick-named the Suffer-Demon. This monster has been with me quite a while, at least three years, and he's gone through a few changes, but the major bits remain the same. Here's a bit of info on the species:

The Gracam (GRASE-am) is the largest predator on it's homeworld, measuring over twenty feet at the shoulder and can grow over fifty feet long from snout to tail. They are primarily scavengers, stealing catches from it's close relative the Soletaram. Like many other predators, however, it will catch animals that are too slow or weak to defend themselves. Unique to the species, the Gracam has glands located in the eyes, nose, mouth, ears and tail that produce a red substance. Much like a slug, it leaves a trail of "blood" wherever it goes. This substance gives off the distinct smell of blood and is used to attract other predators, leading them to believe the Gracam is wounded. They are known to eat members of their own species this way. Gracam have very short, coarse hair covering their body, except for the soft skin of their tail. Their coloring is always a white or nappy grey, as believed to be a camouflage for the white tundra in which it lives, before the false-blood gland became a prominant feature, of course.

They are larger than the Soletaram, and have many qualities that set them apart. The Gracam lacks the boney scythe the Soletaram poccesses, instead has a dome-shaped forhead. It's ears are much smaller and less developed, and being constantly overwhelmed by the smell of the false-blood, it's nose has almost lost all scent function. The vertibre on its neck have prominent nobs, seen through the skin, while the Soletaram does not. The Gracam has a much more primal mind and is not sentient like the Soletaram. Also, the Gracam does not have retractable claws, but thick claws for traction. There is an unexplained strip of loose skin that hangs from the Gracam's chin to the middle of its body.

They have unusually good eyesight, as they rely on it as their primary sense. There is a completely transparent second eyelid that covers the eye at all times. This is to keep the false blood from mucking up the eye's function. Gracam make low-pitched grunts but are known to occationally let loose ear-splitting roars.
