Description ...I would.

Took me a while, I have the strangest feeling like something's missing...oh well.

Total time about 9 hours.

Fantastic!!
I'm totally obsessed with SF, the Universe, planets, stars and so on and I think this is simply brilliant! Pure talent!

How did you do the rings around the planet?

P.S.: to give you a tip: did you thought about adding lens flare? I think that's what's missing

Thanks a lot!

I made the rings by rendering black and white clouds on a new layer in a 8000x8000 image (the original of this is 2500x4500 lol), then using swirl and swirling them to the max of 999%, then doing it again. I erased the bits on the outside and a part in the middle, then crushed it down using free transform, added 15% Gaussian monochromatic noise, adjusted the levels to be a bit darker, then set to layer to screen, pasted it in the picture, and rotated it to fit. I added a gradient overlay at about 10% opacity to make the colors.

A lens flare at the top of the planet? I thought of that but I wasn't sure how it looked. Plus I was pretty much done with lens flares after doing the star clusters, lol.

Wow, thanks a lot I'll need to practice that.

And the lens flare would look great if you'd place it in the top middle of the picture. Another tip: get the Knoll light factory plug-in for Photoshop. It has amazing lens flares, dozens to choose from
